Junior Achievement Initiative

Junior Achievement ‘Our City’ introduces the children in Third and Fourth Class to the basics of financial literacy, the characteristics of cities, and how people and businesses in cities manage their money.  The children are really enjoying exploring zoning found within a city; constructing paper buildings; mapping out a city; planning their own restaurant business; creating an advertising campaign and examining why banks are important. We have completed four sessions with our JA volunteer Cristina and are looking forward to completing our city!

Drumming Workshop

There was huge excitement as the children got to do a drumming workshop with Drumadore! Huge thanks to Ms. Gill for organising the workshop. We had great fun!

Let's Get Active Awards

We tracked our physical activity for four weeks. Every child was given the Irish Heart Foundation pocket planner. Everyone tried to be active for at least 60 minutes every day. The booklets made it easy for us to see and record our activity levels, lunchtime activities, active homework, PE class, after-school activities, training with your club etc., all count towards the 60 minutes a day.  Well done to the children who participated in our fitness initiative for March and achieved their award!

Seashore Safari

Fun in the Sun  The children had a fantastic day on their Explorers Seashore Safari. It was an amazing field-trip to the seashore, where the children learnt about marine animals, seaweeds and environmental care. Big thank you to Rory, a marine biologist who helped us uncover some of the secrets of the creatures living on Grattan Beach in Salthill!      Our Findings     Research before our  Field-trip
