National Museum of Ireland Workshop

The boys and girls in Third and Fourth Class were delighted to participate in an online ‘Museum Explorers!’ workshop with the National Museum of Ireland. Diarmuid and Caragh showed us some historical artefacts and  gave us a little information on how Collins Barracks was an army base for some 200 years before being renovated for use as a museum.

The Stokes Tapestry told us a little about what life was like for a soldier in the 1700s. The sporting vest worn by British Army Soldiers in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers and the metal water flask belonged to a German soldier captured during the First World War. There were many more artefacts on display during the workshop! It was very interesting!

Grandparents' Day

Grandparents' Day was a truly special occasion at our school, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. The children were thrilled to share their classrooms and activities with their grandparents, who brought such warmth and joy to the day. A huge thank you to all the parents who contributed the delicious baked goods—it was a real treat for everyone and added to the festive atmosphere. It was heartwarming to see generations coming together and celebrating the importance of family. We are so grateful for the wonderful community spirit that made the day such a success!

Galway Chess Finals

Congratulations to the children who participated in the Galway Chess Final at the Ardilaun Hotel in Galway last Wednesday. It was a wonderful experience to spend the day playing chess with other students from schools across Galway. The event provided a great opportunity to challenge ourselves, improve our skills, and enjoy friendly competition. We also had a fantastic time meeting and making new friends. Well done to all involved!

Visit from Garda Gerard Naughton

During the month of May, we had the pleasure of welcoming Garda Gerard Naughton to our school for an important talk on internet safety and drug awareness. He shared valuable information about how to stay safe online, including how to protect our personal information, recognise online dangers, and use social media responsibly. Garda Naughton was very engaging and took the time to answer all of our questions. We are confident about how to stay safe both online and in everyday life.
