In a recent virtual showdown organised by the charity Concern and facilitated by the Galway Education Centre, our school's debate team took centre stage to tackle the motion, "Homework is a thing of the past." Well done to the the team who have been very busy over the last number of weeks researching, preparing and practising for the debate. They argued that homework not only reinforces classroom learning but also fosters discipline, time management, and a sense of responsibility among students. Throughout the debate, our speakers engaged in a lively exchange with their counterparts who supported the motion. The Galway Education Centre commended both teams for their spirited arguments, highlighting the importance of such debates. We wish Briarhill National School's Fifth Class the very best of luck going forward in the competition!
